What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry involves using various techniques to help patients feel more at ease during dental procedures. It’s a game-changer for those who experience anxiety, have a strong gag reflex, or need extensive dental work. But is dental sedation right for you? Let’s explore the options and benefits.

FROM FEAR TO FREEDOM

How Does Sedation Dentistry Work?

At Bentall Dental Centre, we provide oral sedation to help you feel relaxed and comfortable throughout your dental procedures. Oral sedation is a method used in dentistry to help patients feel relaxed and comfortable during dental procedures. Taken as a pill or liquid, oral sedation allows you to remain awake but in a deeply relaxed state. It’s perfect for those who want to stay conscious but need help calming their nerves. If you experience fear or anxiety about dental procedures, oral sedation can make the visit much more manageable.

Why Choose Sedation Dentistry?

Choosing sedation dentistry in Vancouver, BC, can offer numerous benefits, especially if you:

  • Experience dental anxiety or fear
  • Have a sensitive gag reflex
  • Need to undergo multiple or lengthy dental procedures
  • Struggle with sensitivity to sounds, smells, or the dental environment
  • Are concerned about discomfort or pain during treatment.

With sedation, you can receive the dental care you need without stress, ensuring that your oral health is maintained in a way that’s comfortable for you.

Is Sedation Dentistry Safe?

Yes, sedation dentistry is safe when administered by trained dental professionals. At Bentall Dental Centre, your safety is our top priority. Before proceeding with any sedation, we will conduct a thorough review of your medical history and current health status. This ensures that we choose the most appropriate sedation method for you and monitor you closely throughout the procedure.

How to Know if Sedation Dentistry is Right for You?

If you’re considering dental sedation in Vancouver, BC, the best way to determine if it’s right for you is to schedule a consultation with our team. We’ll discuss your dental history, any anxiety you may have, and the procedures you need. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan that ensures you feel comfortable and confident every step of the way.

What to Expect During Your Sedation Dentistry Appointment?

When you arrive for your appointment, our dental professionals will guide you through the process, answering any questions you might have. Depending on the type of sedation chosen, you may need to arrange for someone to drive you home afterward, especially with oral or IV sedation.

During the procedure, you’ll feel deeply relaxed and comfortable, allowing our team to perform the necessary treatments efficiently. After the procedure, we’ll provide aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery.

Benefits of Sedation Dentistry

Choosing sedation for your dental procedures offers several advantages, including:

  • Reduced Anxiety: Sedation helps alleviate the fear and stress associated with dental visits.
  • Comfort During Treatment: You’ll remain comfortable throughout your procedure, even during lengthy or complex treatments.
  • Efficient Dental Care: Sedation allows for more work to be completed in a single visit, reducing the number of appointments you need.
  • Improved Oral Health: By overcoming dental anxiety, you’re more likely to keep up with regular visits, leading to better long-term oral health.

Jaehee (Jay)

Dental Assistant

Hi! I’m Jaehee (Jay).

Originally from South Korea, I worked as a Dental Hygienist for 8 years before moving to Canada, where I now work as a Certified Dental Assistant. My experience has taught me the importance of providing high quality care and helping every patient feel at ease during their visit.

Since my time as a Dental Hygienist in Korea, I have always valued being attentive and detail oriented. I do my best to create a comfortable experience for every patient, and seeing patients leave with a smile is the most rewarding part of my job.

Outside of the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my cat  ’Thunder‘ who moved to Canada with me from Korea. I also enjoy weightlifting during the week, running on weekends, and spending time outdoors tanning during the summer.

I’m a Certified Dental Assistant, and what I enjoy most about my job is helping patients feel comfortable and cared for during their visits. I love being part of a team that helps people improve their oral health and leave with a smile they’re confident about. Every day is different, and I enjoy meeting new people and making their dental experience a positive one.

Outside of the clinic, I like staying active by playing tennis and going for runs. I find both are great ways to stay healthy, challenge myself, and unwind in my free time.
